With just over 40 hits in 3 days, my furry little blog has achieved success beyond my wildest dreams. I think that means it’s time to come up with a theme, a plan of action, a mission statement if you will. I’ve been giving it thought, reading lots of blogs, *not* reading even more blogs because they were just too boring, and I’ve figured out what people like. I’ve reduced blogdom to three key styles, from which I shall choose. Ladies and gentlemen, I present you with… a Bulleted List:

1. A log for my general misadventures, thoughts, and ponderings, a la Heather Armstrong. In a word (or four): what I’m already doing. A bit generic, but if done correctly, it has the potential to thrive.
2. A humorous, universally appealing list, a la Christian Lander. Of course, the problem lies in thinking up a humorous and universally appealing topic, but the rewards are great. And it’s never anything complicated; the best ones are just “stuff” (stuff on my cat, stuff white people like, etc).
3. Some plain, old fashioned journalism on a topic I enjoy, a la Collin Orcutt. A little less CNN, a little more Jon Stewart. You take some information, you sautee it lightly with a dash of wit and a tablespoon of personality, and serve with some youtube clips, chilled. A delicious recipe for hits. Lip-smackin’ good.

These three bullet points are absolutely busting their buttons with unlimited possibilities; book deals, advertisers clamouring to thrust money at me… clearly, I can’t go wrong. I hear you asking, which of these maple trees, dripping potential like sap, is she going to tap? The answer…

I’m going to do them all.

So prepare yourselves, hesitantly-loyal fan base, for a roller coaster ride into the unknown! Over the next three weeks we will be embarking on an adventure into the jungle-like depths of that which we call blogging. I’m going to devote one week to each of the options in the Bulleted List, and at the end I’ll decide which one I enjoyed best. Who knows, there might even be a poll. Or not.

This week will be for experimentation with Bullet Point 1. So come back tomorrow for…. more of… er… what I’ve already been doing! You never know; it could be good.
